NY couple will bring their bagel shop to Indian Land this fall
A new bagel shop is coming to Indian Land this September. Expect fresh, made from scratch bagels and homemade cream cheese.
Jim Wilson Rd. and Kensington Dr. are getting some much-needed attention
One road divided by state lines is scheduled for major construction after becoming increasingly dangerous.
Jim Wilson and Kensington roads are one continuous road divided by the N.C. and S.C. state lines. Due to the rapid growth of neighborhoods and increased through traffic, both roads are in desperate need of repair. Thousands of people take the bumpy ride to and from Waxhaw, N.C., and Lancaster, S.C. every day. Each state has sections of potholes that have become increasingly dangerous.
TALKING POINTS
New subdivisions, retail sites, and school impact fees decisions loom in Lancaster Co. [Marks/The Herald]. The county planning commission will meet June 15. Along with a variety of subdivisions, rezoning, and related requests, the group will take up possible school impact fees. A study has been completed that shows the county could add about $8,200 to the cost of a new home, even more for an apartment.
SC paper mill now facing third lawsuit over unhealthy emissions [Boraks/WFAE]. A South Carolina paper mill is now facing a third federal lawsuit from neighbors. The suit filed Tuesday says the plant's emissions are causing pollution and making them sick. Like the two previous suits, this one seeks class-action status and at least $5 million in damages from the company. It also wants the plant shut down until the problem is fixed.
‘It’s illegal to accept a duel’: Wacky South Carolina laws that are still in place [Luna/WBTW]. You’re a law-abiding citizen… as far as you know. But did you know about these wacky South Carolina laws that are still in place?
Developers hope apartments near downtown Indian Trail sway light rail alignment [Riopko/The Weekly]. The 26-mile Silver Line will connect Matthews to uptown Charlotte, but the Charlotte Area Transit System has also discussed an extension into Union County from Central Piedmont Community College's Levine Campus in Matthews. The Moser Group wants to create a hotspot so dense and walkable near downtown Indian Trail that staff and planners can use it to influence that tip of the Silver Line's alignment.
