A new bagel shop is coming to Indian Land this September. Expect fresh, made from scratch bagels and homemade cream cheese.
Husband and wife team Chris Naughton and Donna Arini opened West End Bagels in New York seven years ago. While Naughton trained with successful bagel shop owners in New York City Metropolitan areas to learn the ins and outs of the business, Arini tweaked and fine-tuned her favorite East Village bagel shop recipes.
With one successful shop under their belts, the couple moved to the area last year to open their second location which will be located in the Cross Creek Shopping Center in the former 9Round space. “We spent a good amount of time getting to know the area,” Arini said. “We knew we wanted to be in South Carolina, and this area has very similar demographics to the other shop.”
Arini shared that having that true neighborhood feel is what sets West End Bagels apart. “Our tagline is ‘Your neighborhood bagel shop,’ ” said Arini. “We really try to be a part of the community and do our part.” This includes donating bagels at the end of the day to people who need them instead of trying to sell them.
On the menu
Bagels of course! Plain, cinnamon raisin, sesame, egg, gluten-free, everything, poppy, pumpernickel, salt, whole wheat, onion, garlic, french toast, blueberry, cheddar, whole wheat everything, bialy, and wagel bagels are featured on the menu.

What’s a wagel bagel you ask? It’s the shop’s name for their rainbow bagels. The couple’s children came up with the name because they thought it was funny to say, and the name stuck.
The shop will also offer 13 different homemade cream cheeses (including lox spread) as well as spreads and shmears. Bagel fans will be excited to see the Lox Supreme on the menu which includes a premium NY Nova Style lox, cream cheese, capers, tomato, and red onion.
Like the first location, West End Bagels will also offer breakfast sandwiches, fresh bakery items including muffins and sweets, and a delicatessen serving Boar’s Head meats and cheeses, soups, and salads. Catering will also be available.
Arini says she hopes the shop will be open by this September. West End Bagels will be open seven days a week for breakfast and lunch.

Have a current date as to when the shop will open???
Better try to make the bagels with SC water first. My friend’s pizza restaurant could not get the right texture/taste with local, water.
