This week’s newsletter is all about FOOD! We were excited to discover that the gourmet burger franchise BurgerFi was coming to the area. While the opening date is TBD, that doesn’t keep us from salivating over their menu. To keep us full while we wait, next month Lancaster County Chamber of Commerce will be organizing their first-ever Restaurant Week. Learn more below.
After experiencing some delays, the much-anticipated opening of the Greek restaurant The Greek Grill is now expected to open in RedStone next month. Also coming soon to the area - a McDonald’s and Tractor Supply. Scroll for more info.

New gourmet burger franchise coming to Indian Land
A new gourmet hamburger joint is coming soon! Known as “fast-casual,” BurgerFi will take over the old Salsarita’s Mexican Grill location next to Dunkin’ in the Cross Creek Shopping Center off Hwy. 521.
Restaurant Week coming to Lancaster County
The Lancaster County Chamber of Commerce is organizing its first-ever Restaurant Week September 11-18th. Anyone can participate in the week that offers food and drink specials and discounts from participating restaurants.

Council OKs first reading of IL school impact fees [Banks/Carolina Gateway]. Lancaster County Council passed the first reading of a Panhandle area school impact fee at its meeting on Monday. The ordinance approved included the full amount proposed – $8,202 for newly-built single-family homes and $8,701 for newly built multifamily units, such as condos and duplexes.

The biggest recent land sales in York and Lancaster counties include a golf course, apartments, shopping center and industrial properties. They also include high-end home sales. The Flats at Indian Land apartments sold for almost $72 million.
South Carolina cashes in on N.C.’s liquor store shortage [Bolling/The Charlotte Ledger]. The “out of stock” signs are rampant on the shelves at liquor stores across Charlotte, where North Carolina state officials complain that Covid-related supply chain holdups are keeping them from getting customers the spirits they seek. Less than a mile across the state line in Indian Land, S.C.? Totally different story.
Hang up 911 call turns into Waxhaw Police playing kids in basketball [Huber/WSPA]. Waxhaw Police Officers had a bit of a surprise while responding to a 911 hangup call on Saturday afternoon, according to their Facebook page. When officers arrived at the scene they found out that the call was an accidental dial from a kid playing basketball with friends outside of a home. The kids then challenged the officers to a game and Waxhaw Lt. Coan claims the officers won.
2 passengers injured after plan crash in Union County [Korynta/WCNC]. Two passengers were injured after a plane crashed near Waxhaw Monday afternoon. A single-engine plane nosedived in the back yard of a home on Radin Road, near JAARS, deputies determined. The two passengers of the plane were transported to a hospital nearby for treatment of minor injuries. The pilot of the plane was not injured.

Teen Open Mic Nites - Beginning in October, Ballantyne School of Music will be hosting their popular Teen Open Mic nights on the first and third Friday of each month at their Indian Land location. Teens between the ages of 11 and 18 can share their gift of music on stage in front of a live audience. Learn more here.
