The Lancaster County Chamber of Commerce is organizing its first-ever Restaurant Week September 11-18th. Anyone can participate in the week that offers food and drink specials and discounts from participating restaurants. The opportunity to participate as a restaurant is offered to Lancaster Chamber of Commerce members.
“We are excited to bring promotion to our participating restaurant members,” said Casey Ballard, Membership Director and Events Coordinator for the Lancaster Chamber of Commerce. “It's our desire to promote them and at the same time promote what a great benefit it is to be a member of the Chamber of Commerce.”
Why this matters
Restaurant week is a period of specials and promotions for restaurants that began in New York City in 1992 and now takes place all over the country. According to The Balance Small Business website, restaurant weeks were established to boost business during the slow season for restaurants. The concept offers benefits for restaurant owners and can help increase sales during otherwise slow periods.
Cities and states use the week as a platform to show off their area and build their culinary reputation. The food scene in Lancaster County is slowly growing and hopefully, this promotion will shine a light on the eateries the county does have as well as encourage more to come.
Charlotte’s Queens Feast Restaurant Week has been running successfully for over a decade offering the week twice a year and has seen the restaurant scene explode during that time.
Stay tuned for a list of participating restaurants and their offers coming soon.
