Impact fees, major developments coming soon + women-owned men's grooming shop opens

In almost every Facebook group for this area, you will find discussions about impact fees. Tonight, Lancaster County has the first of three readings scheduled on the proposed new panhandle impact fees. We broke down the fees proposed in one of our feature stories below. Depending on how long it takes to see these fees come into effect - if they are approved - we might see a giant uptick in construction as builders will rush to beat the fees.
We also did a feature on three major developments that are coming to the Indian Land area. Two of the developments are in Indian Land and could be affected by these impact fees.

590 homes could be built near racetrack [Summers/Lancaster News]. A developer wants to build 590 homes on 278 acres within earshot of the Lancaster Motor Speedway. As a newbie to the area, I had no clue there was a Lancaster Motor Speedway. Apparently, the dirt track has been there since 1954.

Two metrics show the York, Lancaster and Chester counties corner of South Carolina is tops in the state for homeowners who want to sell. The average tri-county home that went on the market in 2020 spent 38 days there, lowest in the state. Tri-county homes brought in 99% of their asking price, highest in the state.
Couple turns to high-tech gym concept [Charlotte Media Group]. Fort Mill residents Tracy and Justin Morris opened their first Exercise Coach location in January at 1526 Providence Road South in Waxhaw. The location is outfitted with high-tech computerized machines instead of traditional equipment.
Breweries, cideries compete in can tab collection for a good cause [Escobar/Spectrum]. Indian Land family inspires area businesses to collect pop tabs for the Ronald McDonald Foundation. Last year, businesses and community members gave 6,185 pop tabs to the foundation. The donation turned into more than $2,200, which pays for 16 nights at the house for a family.

Litter Cleanup: The Indian Land Action Council has organized a litter clean up Saturday, February 13 at 9 a.m. Masks, gloves, and safety vests are provided. Meeting at the Walmart parking lot.
