IN THE NEWS
Does high growth lead to better schools? Look at Lake Wylie, Fort Mill, Indian Land [Marks/The Herald]. Fort Mill, Tega Cay, Indian Land and Lake Wylie are in different school districts. And they’re not all in the same county. Schools in that corridor perform at or among the best in South Carolina.
Flames spread through Indian Land homes; neighbors thankful no one was hurt [White/WSOC]. Flames damaged a pair of homes in South Carolina this weekend and fire officials said it’s fortunate no one was hurt. It happened Friday night in the Sun City community of Indian Land. Three people are now without places to stay.
District’s test scores show improvement [Jones/The Lancaster News]. The S.C. Department of Education released results from state assessments for the 2022-23 school year, and Lancaster County School District student results show a significant bounce back in post-pandemic classrooms.
