There’s a new mobile merchant in Indian Land bringing fresh and sustainable blooms to an event near you. Gather Flower Studio offers a build-your-own bouquet flower cart for private events and local business partners.
Florist Jessica Paroda moved to Indian Land from Ohio this past July after her husband accepted a new job in the area. Her floral business in Ohio created arrangements for special occasions and offered floral education workshops. Due to relocating to a new area and a lack of events on account of the pandemic, Paroda took the rest of the year off to focus on education and rebranding her business.
In April, Gather Flower Studio debuted with a new logo, website, and offerings. In addition to creating arrangements for weddings and offering floral workshops, Paroda debuted her pop-up mobile flower cart. The cart allows guests to get creative and build their own floral arrangements.
“I enjoy bringing people together,” said Paroda. “That is how Gather’s name was established. Whether it is over dinner at your dining room table or you gathering in a hospital room because someone just had a beautiful bouncing baby, or celebrating the life of someone you loved in a funeral home, flowers are always there when people are gathering together.”
How the pop-up flower cart works:
Choose a package based on the number of bouquets required. Prices vary based on seasonal flower availability and customer needs.
Packages are available from 20 to 40 bouquets.
The cart will provide enough flowers, paper wrapping, and twine for guests to create the ordered number of bouquets. Gather also offers customization, such as printed tissue paper and stickers.
Gather will remain on-site for the duration of the event to ensure your success.
Sustainability:
Paroda avoids flower foam in the flower cart and all of Gather’s arrangements. “From the moment flower foam is created, even if it breaks down into the tiniest pieces, it will remain on the earth forever,” said Paroda. “There are so many other avenues of hydration for flowers.”
Another way Gather practices sustainability is by partnering with local no-till flower growers who don’t use pesticides. “I know exactly what I’m getting,” Paroda said. “Everything is in season, and it lasts twice as long because it is in season, and it is cut directly from the field. I’m designing with it two days later, which is really huge.”
Three tips to a healthier arrangement from Gather Flower Studio:
When cutting the flower stems, use clean, sharp scissors to cut at a 45-degree angle. This creates a larger surface area the flowers use to drink.
Be sure to remove any leaves that will fall below the vase’s water line to prevent bacterial growth.
Flowers arrangements are like a bunch of strawberries. Once one goes bad, bacteria will spread to the flowers around it. Pluck and pitch the faded stems to make your arrangement last.
